Executive health programs are not new - the Mayo Clinic and the Greenbrier Clinic are nationally known, among others - but some of the Richmond area's largest companies have enrolled in CJW's program to provide exams for their top managers, [J. Rand Baggesen] said. It has several hundred patients now and the capacity to see up to 900 a year.

At the end of the exam, patients receive their VitalKey, a USB memory device that holds electronic medical records. The VitalKey can be carried on a key chain and plugged into a computer to provide a doctor with information during a medical emergency or disaster. Having portable health information helps prevent medical errors, said Baggesen, who has started a company with several partners to sell the devices.

Baggesen doesn't just cater to executives and the wealthy. On Mondays, he drives to the Free Clinic of Goochland and volunteers for several hours, seeing up to 12 patients an evening. He also serves as vice chairman of the board of directors of the nonprofit clinic.
